At Polar Endurance we understand that life on our planet is under threat of extinction.
If we are to exist on earth in the future, we must change our ways. We must all act quickly to keep global temperatures from rising by cutting human caused emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). Most clothes are made using energy from coal fueled power plants. This adds warming gases into the air that we breath and accelerates the climate crisis. In just one year, the worldwide clothing industry will contribute over one billion tonnes of CO2 emissions into our air. That’s as much as all international flights and maritime shipping combined.
How can we help?
The best way we can help is by offering you products made with sustainable, organic and recycled raw materials. Even our packaging uses materials made from recycled content. Our products are based around functionality and durability because one of the best ways we can limit ecological impacts is by wearing products that can last and be recycled so that the materials in them remain in use.
We created our brand to try and help the iconic polar bear which is at particular risk from global warming. The Arctic is home to the polar bear and this vast region is warming about twice as fast as the global average, causing the ice that polar bears depend on to melt away. Loss of sea ice threatens the bear’s main prey, seals, which need the ice to raise their young. With less ice, polar bears are forced to stay longer on land. This is increasingly bringing them into contact with local people in Arctic villages and towns, leading to bears and people being injured or killed in self-defence. Current forecasts predict an almost ice free Arctic in the summer months within a generation.
The polar bear has been categorised as ‘vulnerable’ by the WWF with only around 22,000 remaining in the Artic region.
